ISO 22000 quality certification

hec Quality, animal nutrition

Quality and safety in our animal feed products have always been our priority, both through continuous research and investment as well as scrupulous day-to-day monitoring of the safe work procedures implemented over the last forty years. Thus, thanks to the quality achieved in our products and the proven safety that they have demonstrated in the exhaustive tests carried out by accredited external laboratories, In 2012, we achieved ISO 22,000 certification for quality and safety in animal feed. awarded by the prestigious German company TÜV. This certification demonstrates our commitment to quality and not only to compliance with existing regulations on food safety, but also that we go much further in the quality and safety levels of our products. Our goal is to offer our clients maximum peace of mind when feeding their animals.

intraspecies cannibalism

hec News, animal nutrition

We understand that it is totally prohibited within the same animal species and not only for protein, but for all slaughterhouse by-products. Therefore, tallow cannot be used in ruminants, lard cannot be used in pigs, etc. According to the European Commission

MEMO/04/107
Brussels, May 6, 2004
QUESTIONS And Answers on animal by-products

Intra-species recycling (cannibalism) ban The Regulation extends the current ruminant intra-species recycling (cannibalism) ban to other species. Porcine animal by-products cannot be fed to pigs and poultry animal by-products cannot be fed to poultry. However, derogation is provided for in the case of fish and fur animals subject to strict controls by the competent authority.

"The regulation extends to other species the prohibition, already applicable to ruminants, of recycling (by-products) within the same species..."

GPS reminder (or Espuny Index)

hec Products

The GPS of each quality appears in our information tables. This index is the most accurate and appropriate measure of fat unsaturation (gps = degree of peni-saturation).

But how is it calculated? The % of each unsaturated fatty acid is multiplied by the square root of its number of double bonds. All these products are added and the total is divided by 100. Very useful for calculating the "hardness" of the fat in the pork carcass. .

We give some examples:

fat gps
butter __________0.37
tallow _______________0.47
palm ______________0.53
lard ______0.58
Iberian pig ID _____0.74
“yellow grease” ________0.82
olive _______________0.88
rapeseed _______________1.04
soybeans, sunflower __________1.12

RIOSA and Kyoto

hec News, Products

By purchasing oleins from RIOSA, the customer has the security and satisfaction that they are doing everything possible to fight against the greenhouse effect, against the global warming of our planet, and fully respecting the Kyoto agreement and Protocol.

In effect, RIOSA only burns biomass at home in its boiler and dryers. RIOSA has not used any fossil fuels for more than 20 years. Any other boiler that RIOSA sets up will always consume biomass, that is, not contributing a single gram of CO2 to the atmosphere that was not already in it.

And when there are trucks that consume hydrogen instead of oil, RIOSA will force all its transporters to use only hydrogen as fuel.

It is true that at the present time we still consume electrical energy from the grid, and that this may have been produced with coal (100% harmful) or with oil (59,12% harmful). But our imminent goal is to supply ourselves with cogeneration that will only burn biomass (0% harmful) and natural gas for eventual support in times of shortage (44,86% harmful).

We will try to progress, although we may not reach the model of Japan (there is a reason Kyoto is next to Tokyo, same letters in a different order), where the Government is currently planning to provide incentives for employees (like the one seen in the photo) to go to work. I work without a jacket, so as not to have to turn on the air conditioning so hard and not consume so much energy, not to increase fossil CO2 in the atmosphere so much.

Our product PL

hec soap shop, animal nutrition, Products

Our most recent product, which we call PALMOLIVA (abbreviated as "PL"). It is a 1:1 mixture of fatty acids distilled from palm (from Malaysia) with pure olive oleins (from Andalusia). - It is an excellent product for making soap (remember the fantastic brand "Palmolive", from the USA, to whom The grandfather of the current Espuny sent the olive oleins). Good for making laundry or toilet soap and for making calcium soap for ruminants.

But our Palmoliva can not only be used for soaps, but is a suitable and very suitable fat to be added directly to the feed of white pigs and ruminants. In both cases it justifies the motto of "Meat produced without animal fat." In the case of ruminants, it is a total guarantee that they do not transmit any TSE (Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathy).

It is pure vegetable.

Our products and the “OMG-Free”

hec News, animal nutrition, Products

For those who wish, we have guaranteed GMO-free products.

Following what was ordered by Brussels in regulations 1829/2003 and 1830/2003, currently in force, we have begun to inform on our delivery notes and invoices whether our product is "free of GMOs" or is "produced from GMOs", in in whole or in part (it is enough for a small percentage of the product to be like this for the whole to be given the label).

It is well known that fat does not have amino acids, nor therefore DNA, and therefore cannot undergo genetic modifications. - But if, for example, our XL product contains some soy olein, since most of the soy produced is transgenic , we are already obliged to put it. This date of 04/19/2004 on which this obligation began should be preserved for posterity, at least as the date of 03/31/1888 (St. Benjamin's Day) is preserved as that of the invention of spiritism and communication with the dead. It would be a good idea to have celebrated one of these sessions for the three navigators of the balloon that caught fire over Santiago de Compostela on 04/23/04, before embarking on their unfortunate adventure.
